Autarch LLC is a game development studio based in Durham, NC. Our name derives from the Greek word autarkhos, meaning self-governing, and reflects our love of classical history. We think it’s an apt name for a creator-owned company, whose highest mandate is to produce things that are pleasing to ourselves. In modern times autarchy has acquired the connotation of despotism, but we have no desire to lord over anyone. On the contrary, we hope that we can best serve you by pursuing our own desires. We are gamers and fans like you, and like the Autarch in Gene Wolfe’s “Book of the New Sun”, we contain a multitude of diverse experiences.
